Nawtilus is a speculative design project for skincare in a futuristic-dystopian context. It is inspired by the movie The Substance. Nawtilus begins with a facial scan with an app that translates the user's facial skin into data: imperfections, desires and vulnerabilities. Once this is done, the scan is sent to the company via app. The user is sent their personalized skin care treatment to their home. The experience begins with the application of the product on the user's neck using a physical device: a small applicator in the shape of a softened spiral—like nautilus sea shell. When activated, its circular light marks the beginning of the process. Once applied, the treatment responds by sealing the user in a temporary metallic shell, rendering them unable to move, speak or interact. During this state of isolation, the skin is inactive and protected from the exterior. After 24 hours, the shell fractures, allowing the body to emerge renewed and transformed. Nawtilus reframes skincare as a process of transformation, control and rebirth.
A controlled transformation ritual. Where beauty is engineered, studied, scanned, measured, applied and reborn.
Precision in its purest form. Designed to deliver transformation with controlled pressure & calculated contact without leaving a trace in your skin. Engineered to initiate rebirth.
